With over a hundred thousand unique monthly listeners worldwide, Amy Root, Dutch duo Lukas Amer and Sjoerd Huissoon, will return with their upcoming EP The Knot in November 2022. With their previous EP’s Lynn (2018), Elif (2019) and Ava (2021) they have already shown their immense capability of making music that compels great visual, mental and almost mythical images triggered by their electronic beats and harmonies.

Lukas and Sjoerd who are both from The Hague, already crossed each other's paths in the past. Later on, in 2018 when they met again at the Conserva- tory of Rotterdam, they started working together as Amy Root. Since then the duo constantly finds ways to improve their new sounds with producti- ons that evoke emotions of euphoria and melancholia.

Amy Root’s colour palette is music. The colors they compose with are things such as their childhood, family, friends, memories, insecurities and adventures. Soon Lukas and Sjoerd felt how they shared this specific approach on making music, both being inspired by diverse global artists such as Jamie XX, Rival Consoles, Overmono, Thom Yorke, Danvers, Ma- chinedrum and Fela Kuti. This made their musical partnership reciprocal, communal and intimate on many levels.

Amy Root’s strong connection results in a powerful energy that is present when they produce and compose together. Earlier they performed at multiple events such as Eurosonic, Down The Rabbit Hole, Best Kept Secret, Catch, Amsterdam Dance Event and Wildeburg. Upcoming months they will surprise us again with compelling sounds coming from their new EP.

THE KNOT EP

On the 24th of November 2022 the Dutch duo Lukas Amer and Sjoerd Huissoon known as Amy Root will release their upcoming four-tracker EP The Knot. The four-track album features an exciting and broad scope of in- spiration, as a result of new contacts, equipment, various citytrips and their new working space in The Hague. The album captivates diversity in terms of visuals, lyrics, sound design and collaborations with among others Felix Machtelinckx (Tin Fingers), Simon Nuyten (Bazart) and Toon Jannsens (Forbidden Fruit).

For Amy Root the past year has been a period of both balance and innovation. During the production of The Knot they felt like entering a new stage in life, a more stable and adult one. They seem to come back to some of their previous techniques, while especially evolving in collaborati- on with other artists and musicians.

Earlier Amy Root mainly focussed on their music together as a duo. However during this period they found a new sense of inspiration in wor- king together with complete strangers in different cities as well as in their studio in home-base The Hague. Such inspiring collaborations enabled them to see their own creative process from a different point of view.

THE KNOT SINGLE

The 6th of October 2022 Amy Root will release the first single, The Knot, as part of their four-track EP The Knot. Together with Felix Machtelinckx's writing, The Knot became a mysterious journey towards the transcending sounds of this single. Already during one of the first jam sessions with Felix Machtelinckx, the dynamic between Lukas, Sjoerd and the hypnotizing vo- cals of Felix became fruitful for creation. Soon their collaboration became a safe bubble in which they organically created the colourful single, taking you to different outscapes of today’s electronic music.

RUNNING SINGLE

The second single of The Knot is Running which will be released on the 3rd of November 2022. Running evokes power, explosion and competition. The upbeat single feels like a train, or a rocket bursting into space. With the other singles Lukas and Sjoerd sometimes felt as if they got carried away. But, with Running on the other hand, Amy Root experienced a bursting of energy. As if Running triggered a deep rooted force inside of them, a force that they had experienced with only some of their earlier work.

WRECKING Single

The 24th of November 2022 Amy Root will release Wrecking, together with the full EP, featuring Simon Nuytten. The day before the production of Wrecking which was in Belgium, Amy Root decided to discover Antwerp a bit more. Their night ended with a lot of wine and good company. The next day, hungover but fully committed to work on Wrecking, they were able to write the single in a short period of time. Only after the production Amy Root realized how the single came to symbolize some of their personal struggles of that period. The process itself was simply uplifting, which ena- bled them to turn that period into sounds. The final result of Wrecking, to- gether with the vocals of Simon Nuytten presents a deep melody with stunning lyrics representing this turbulent period in their love lives.

ALFIE SINGLE

The diversity of higher and lower tones in Alfie, the fourth single of Amy Root's EP The Knot, might awaken the wild and fearless kid in you. At least that was what it did for Amy Root. The process of this song felt like a nos- talgic trip, taking them back to who they were as two young boys. And even though their past selves felt as familiar figures, the production itself was completely new to them. Alfie is an epic and mythical combination of both revival of and longing to the past.
